• Condition One: during office hours the VAT Refund counter:

    1. Please bring the Temporary Entry Permit, Application Form for Claiming VAT Refund, and the related purchased goods Eligible for VAT Refund.
    2. Confirm whether the purchased goods need to be examined through operating on a Kiosk: scan the Temporary Entry Permit and the Application Forms for Claiming VAT Refund.
    3. If there is no need for examination, keep operating on the Kiosk. After confirming the VAT refund details, choose the payment method by cash, to a credit card account, or by a check.
    4. If an examination is needed, proceed to the Customs counter beside the VAT Refund counter to have the goods examined. Return to a Kiosk and confirm the VAT Refund details, and choose the payment method by cash, to a credit card account, or by a check.
    5. When choosing the payment by cash, proceed to the cashier.
    6. Clarification of office hours: We will post the office hours of current week for VAT Refund and Customs Offices. Ship crew can go to the counter to process the VAT Refunds during the office hours.

     

  • Condition Two: Off office hours (Only credit card payment available)

    1. When there are Kiosks available: (Keelung, Taipei, Suao, and Kaohsiung Harbors.)
      1. Please bring Temporary Entry Permit, Application Form for Claiming VAT Refund, and the related purchased goods Eligible for VAT Refund.
      2. Confirm whether the purchased goods need to be examined by operating on a Kiosk: scan the Temporary Entry Permit and the Application Forms for Claiming VAT Refund.
      3. If there is no need for examination, keep operating on the Kiosk. After confirming the VAT refund details, choose the payment method by credit card.
      4. If an examination is needed, proceed to the Customs Building to have the goods examined. After the goods pass the examination, return to a Kiosk and confirm the VAT Refund details, and choose the payment method by cash, to a credit card account, or by a check.
      5. Kiosk Locations: Keelung Harbor—Second Floor, East Second Pier; Taipei Harbor—Ground Floor, Taipei Harbor Service Building; Suao Harbor—Suao Harbor Customs Office; Kaohsiung Harbors—Ground Floor, Kaohsiung Customs.
    2. When there are no Kiosk available: (Hualien and, Taichung Harbors)
      1. Please bring Temporary Entry Permit, Application Form for Claiming VAT Refund, and the related purchased goods Eligible for VAT Refund to the Customs Office, and let the Customs Staffs examine the goods.
      2. If the goods are deemed as eligible for VAT Refund, please ask the staffs to stamp the Application Form for Claiming VAT Refund an “Eligible for Ship Crew VAT Refund” seal.
      3. The goods deemed as ineligible for VAT Refund are not allowed to have VAT Refund.
      4. Please fill in a valid credit card number and its expiration date for the VAT Refund on the corresponding forms inside the “Eligible for Ship Crew VAT Refund” seal.
      5. Please fax the photocopy of the Temporary Entry Permit and the stamped “Eligible for Ship Crew” Application Form for Claiming VAT Refund to the VAT Refund Office (fax number: 02-2326-6464) and let the office assist the VAT Refund registration procedure. After completing the registration, the VAT Refund Office will appropriate the credit card account immediately. (But the actual recorded date would depend on the procedure of the bank that issues the credit card.)
